Internet-related Enhancements in Epsilon 12
Epsilon can now access remote files via scp, using
external scp and sftp programs. Once scp support has been set up,
features like dired (including directly copying between local and
remote files), creating and deleting directories and completion all
work. Ssh support, using an external ssh program, is also available.
See Secure Shell and SCP Support for
details.
Telnet buffers now interpret certain ANSI escape sequences for setting
colors, and bare Ctrl-m characters that indicate overtyping. The
telnet-interpret-output variable controls this. Command history
works in telnet buffers.
When Epsilon recognizes password prompts in telnet and process
buffers, the regular expression it uses for this purpose can now be
customized by setting the recognize-password-pattern variable.
The new variable http-log-request makes Epsilon include the
exact request it sends in its log buffer. The new variable
http-force-headers makes Epsilon substitute the http request
lines you specify for the request it would otherwise send.
Dired's FTP listings can now include hidden files (in v12.10), when
permitted by the dired-show-dotfiles variable and dired's -
subcommand, on systems that normally exclude them. For compatibility
with older FTP servers, this feature is off by default. A new bit in
the ftp-compatible-dirs variable enables it.
